Detectives are actively dissecting the potential ties between a fight that broke out, where a gun was dropped, and the violence that ensued at State Street and Exchange Place.
An arrest on August 10 led to the apprehension of a 32-year-old man in Taylorsville on various felony charges, with suspicions of his involvement pending further criminal charges in the shooting. A subsequent arrest on August 21 brought 22-year-old Raymond Gallegos into custody after detectives established probable cause for his illegal possession of a firearm during the fight. "Detectives booked Gallegos into the Salt Lake County Metro Jail on charges of unlawful possession of a dangerous weapon as a restricted person and unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute," as stated by SLCPD.
In another related effort, 30-year-old Devin Bradley was arrested on August 23 in Ogden with aid from the local SWAT and Gang Units. The search warrant executed during Bradley's arrest turned up drugs, weapons, and potentially incriminating evidence linked to the downtown shooting. Although details remain sparse, an injured man connected to the case remains hospitalized and faces unrelated felony charges from a different state.
