San Francisco International Airport (SFO) has unveiled a new logo, stepping away from the familiar flight lines emblem after nearly a quarter-century, the airport announced in a statement. The refreshed branding represents SFO's continued efforts at modernization and delivering a top-tier passenger experience, and at the same time, nodding to San Francisco's deep-seated history and culture of innovation.
New SFO Logo Revealed
"We are excited to introduce our new brand and logo, which reflects the exciting changes happening at SFO," said Ivar C. Satero, Airport Director, as per the San Francisco International Airport. The symbolism of the logo isn't accidental. The fluidity of the "S," the wing-like "F," and the "O," resembling a portal, are supposed to capture the essence of the city's storied past, its vibrant present, and seemingly limitless future. The main color, SFO Golden Hour Blue, is meant to honor the past while popping with a more radiant and dynamic blue for the future.
The logo isn't just about aesthetic appeal; it also holds a mission statement, as per the San Francisco International Airport, "Inspiring the Extraordinary; and our new Mission: Delivering an airport experience where people and our planet come first." By focusing on people, the community, and the airport team, the new design allows for versatile themed variations, especially with the "O," to better reflect the entities that give SFO its unique identity.
The rollout of the new brand identity is the culmination of 18 months of market research and creative development, aimed at ensuring the logo's optimization for the digital realm. It has been crafted to scale across various devices and screen sizes effortlessly, the new font has been chosen for its legibility, and the overall design offers adaptive creativity for various messages.
