A fatal shooting in the unincorporated area of San Leandro on Tuesday night has triggered a homicide investigation by the Alameda County Sheriff's Office. The deputies arrived at a home in the 16000 block of Carolyn Street following a report of gunfire and found two victims with gunshot wounds just after 10 p.m.
The first victim, a woman in her 30s, was discovered with a wound to her leg, and paramedics quickly transported her to a local hospital for treatment. As the authorities combed the scene, they encountered an unresponsive man in his 40s inside the residence. Deputies attempted to quickly administer medical aid until emergency medical personnel could arrive and take over. Despite their efforts, the man did not survive and was pronounced dead at the scene, as reported by the Alameda County Sheriff's Office.
The preliminary investigation points to an isolated incident, likely the result of a domestic dispute, and at the moment, investigators do not see an ongoing threat to public safety.
