An early morning collision in Opa-locka has resulted in the death of a scooter driver after a crash with a Jeep Wrangler, local authorities confirmed. The accident occurred around 4:25 a.m. at the junction of Northwest 27th Avenue and Ali Baba Avenue. According to the police, the scooter was traveling north on 27th Avenue and collided with the Jeep that was passing west on Ali Baba Avenue. "The victim was ejected from his scooter and pronounced dead at the scene by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue," said Miami-Dade police Detective Argemis Colome in a statement obtained by Local 10 News.
The driver of the Jeep, after the incident took place, remained at the scene to cooperate with the authorities. Details about the circumstances leading up to the crash have not been fully disclosed as the investigation is still ongoing. Chopper 6 managed to capture footage of the incident, showing a red Jeep Wrangler and a yellow tarp at the site of the tragedy, according to a report by NBC Miami.
