SeaWorld Orlando Debuts Spooky 'Howl-O-Sprint 5K' on Friday the 13th for Thrill-Seeking RunnersSource: Google Street View

Get ready to lace up your running shoes for a heart-racing experience like no other. SeaWorld Orlando is extending its Halloween festivities beyond the usual spooks with an event that's part run, part fright night — the inaugural Howl-O-Sprint 5K. On a date that could send superstitious shivers down your spine, Friday, Sept. 13, the brave and the bold can attempt to outpace their deepest fears in a chilling dash through haunted park landscapes, as reported by Orlando Weekly.

The 5K is set to offer more than just run-of-the-mill marathon chills - participants will weave through a series of spooky settings, that challenge the nerves as much as the leg muscles. Starting just before midnight, it seems the course's ghostly figures and sinister surprises are determined to keep the adrenaline high well into the witching hours. Meanwhile, ClickOrlando detailed the competitive nature of the Howl-O-Sprint, with awards waiting for the top three male and female finishers. But beware, with only 4,000 spots available for participants, it's a race against more than just frights to secure a spot in this thrilling event.

After crossing the finish line, racers and a limited number of spectators can enjoy the darkness-banishing festivities at the post-race celebration. Until 2 a.m., Siren’s Bar will beckon with themed beverages, treats, and live music to shake off any lingering chills.

"For years, SeaWorld Orlando has been dedicated to delivering unforgettable experiences for our guests, and we continually listen to their desires for more immersive and experiential events," Jon Peterson, president of SeaWorld Orlando, said in a news release detailed by ClickOrlando. The spine-chilling details and race registration can be found on SeaWorld's event page for the intrepid who dare to confront their fears head-on in this first-of-its-kind Halloween run.
