
Authorities in Warren County have confirmed the arrest of a man following the discovery of a deceased woman in DeKalb County. The woman, identified as Rebecca Maxfield from Smithville, Tennessee, was initially reported missing on August 4, as per WKRN.
On August 15, her body was found by a Warren County investigator inside a vehicle, hidden amidst the vast growth of a cornfield on the new Bildad Road. The suspect in connection with the case, Joshua Wayne Goff, faces charges of abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence, with the Warren County Sheriff’s office setting his bond at $60,000, as reported by a WKRN news release.
Data obtained from the investigation revealed that Maxfield's phone had last signaled in Warren County where she was last seen alive. According to Crime Online, Goff is currently being held at the Warren County Jail.
Warren County Sheriff Jackie D. Matheny Jr. has underscored that the investigation is still active, he has called upon the public for assistance, seeking anyone who might have information on Maxfield's death. A statement obtained by On Target News quoted Sheriff Matheny urging "anyone who might have any information" to come forward and contact Investigator Calvin Hammond.
