A somber tableau unfolded within a Springfield Township home as Jeffrey Gardner, a 24-year-old homeless man, is accused of attempted murder after allegedly stabbing his mother and sister with a kitchen knife, as reported by FOX19 news. Held on a $1 million bond as determined by a Hamilton County Judge, Gardner's charges include two counts each of attempted murder and felonious assault.
The alleged domestic assault occurred yesterday in the 9200 block of Yorkridge Drive, where court records obtained by WLWT detail a harrowing scene wherein Gardner took "at least one knife from the kitchen then chased his mother and sister around the house, stabbing them both repeatedly while telling them he was going to kill them both." The attack only ceased when 911 was called as Gardner fled from the scene.
Arrested and booked into the Hamilton County jail around 4:30 p.m. yesterday, Gardner appeared before the court this morning to face these severe allegations. The victims, his mother and sister, were urgently taken to the hospital to treat their injuries, which, thanks to some haste or providence or both, have been deemed non-life-threatening. Both women are expected to recover, according to statements made by the police at the scene.
