Commuters in Tennessee will want to pay close attention to their travel plans next week as the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) has announced a series of ramp closures across various routes. The closures, slated for slope mowing operations, are a measure taken to ensure the safety of both road workers and travelers.
The schedule starts on Tuesday, August 13, where from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, the I-240 eastbound on-ramp at Exit 18 for Perkins Rd. will be shut down. Subsequent days will see similar closures, each affecting a different exit along I-240. Drivers are advised to plan accordingly and expect some delays.
According to TDOT's announcement, the closures will continue through Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday with the Getwell Rd. on-ramp (Exit 20), the Mt. Moriah Rd. on-ramp (Exit 17), and the Lamar Ave. exit ramp (Exit 21) respectively being unavailable at similar times.
TDOT also reminds drivers to respect the Move Over Law, which was passed in 2006, stating that negligence can result in penalties including up to 30 days in jail and a maximum $500 fine. For updated information on construction-related traffic conditions, TDOT encourages the use of the TDOT SmartWay Map or the statewide travel info available by calling 511.
