The 2024 WWA Wake Park National Championship, having completed its first day of competition, is poised for the final rounds on Sunday. The nation's elite wakeboarders, ranging from young enthusiasts to seasoned adults, have converged on Shark Wake Park in West Palm Beach, a cutting-edge venue recently dubbed one of the top parks in the United States. In the words of Greg Norman Jr, CEO and founder of Shark Wake Park, "The Olympics just happened, and this is our Olympics for us," as reported by WPTV.
Hundreds of competitors have taken to the water, impressing spectators with their talents. Among them, Colby Zebarth stood out with a backside 1080 maneuver on the first day. Despite, only having a few years of experience, Zebarth's mother discovered the sport online which led to him trying it and ultimately falling for wakeboarding. Now he's in the lead for his group's medal rounds, as he told WPTV.
Daniel Grant, another standout wakeboarder who's earned recognition for his performances, remarking, "My round went really well. I was happy to stay in my pass. Happy to go big for the crowd, kids, and upcoming riders," in an interview with WFLX.
Another participant, Daniel Grant who hails from Thailand, signaled his ambition to claim the top prize following a successful frontward somersault on Saturday, as noted by WFLX. Grant reflected, "Looking forward to the finals tomorrow, and I'm keen to see how the other here at the US nationals do."
