An overturned tractor-trailer on Interstate 24 West near the Davidson-Cheatham county line caused significant traffic delays and prompted an emergency response on Friday evening. According to a report from WSMV, the accident, which also involved a pickup truck and a sedan, occurred just after 5 p.m. between the Joelton and New Hope Road exits, leading to the closure of the interstate for several hours as Hazmat teams were called to the scene over concerns that the tractor-trailer may have been hauling a chemical.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) quickly reported the overturned vehicle and by roughly one hour later they had posted on the social media platform X confirming that the exit was sealed due to a multi-vehicle crash involving a semi-truck and consequently a diversion route was established at exit 35, drivers found themselves rerouted and traffic was congested as emergency teams worked to manage the situation.

It was reported that patients from the crash were taken to the hospital, although the extent of their injuries was not initially disclosed. Nevertheless, Metro police later confirmed that the injuries sustained by two individuals were deemed non-critical. "Metro Dispatch confirmed that two people were transported to an area hospital," according to the WKRN report.
