Palm Beach County Fire Rescue confirmed the Mercedes driver's fatality at the scene and the other driver's transportation to Delray Medical Center for treatment, as details obtained from CBS12 News.
With all southbound lanes blocked, there were substantial delays, as traffic cameras showed major congestion in the Boynton Beach area. Drivers were advised to seek alternative routes while first responders worked at the crash site. Finally, at 2:34 p.m., Palm Beach County Fire Rescue stated all lanes continued to be shut down.
Later in the day, the BocaNewsNow.com provided an update that the Florida Highway Patrol had reopened the Turnpike following the investigation and clean-up efforts. It was a fatal series of events that led to an unidentified male losing his life, as he "failed to maintain control of V-1" - his vehicle - and it collided with the rear of a Freightline tractor-trailer.
