Gazerro’s path to leading in firefighting began with a reflective decision to shift away from a career that did not fulfill her desire for active and engaging work. "I graduated from college with a degree in politics, economics, and history and became a paralegal right out of college in Charlotte. I hated it. It was not for me," Gazerro explained in a statement provided by the City of Charlotte.
Gazerro’s move from a paralegal position to a firefighter role emphasized her pursuit of a career that demands both physical and emotional strength. Her new role comes with substantial responsibilities and high expectations. "It was just the same thing every single day. I wanted some change," Gazerro told the City of Charlotte's news department.
