
Early Wednesday morning, a shooting inside a South Shore neighborhood apartment in Chicago left two people injured. The incident occurred just after 3 a.m. in the 7500 block of South Kingston Avenue. CBS News Chicago reports that a 64-year-old man inside the apartment was struck by gunfire which is believed to have discharged from an upstairs apartment.
The victim, wounded in the left elbow, was transported in fair condition to the University of Chicago Medical Center, as detailed by the CBS News Chicago. Following the shooting, Chicago police discovered a woman in the upstairs residence with a gunshot wound to her right hand. Both incidents are believed to be connected, though details on what led to the gunfire remain unclear. The woman was taken to Jackson Park Hospital in good condition, and she was described as being combative and uncooperative with responding officers, according to the police.
No suspects are currently in custody. The Chicago Tribune notes that the investigation remains ongoing.
