On the heels of the annual National Night Out, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Indiana is set to actively engage with various Indianapolis neighborhoods today. U.S. Attorney Zachary A. Myers will be out and about, making his presence known at block parties and recognizing key individuals for their contributions to public safety at the IMPD's Crime Fighter of the Year ceremony, according to a recent press release.
The overarching aim of these events is to foster a healthier relationship between law enforcement and the communities they serve. "A positive, ongoing relationship between neighbors and law enforcement is vital to building trust and keeping the public safe," declared Myers. He is eager to directly connect with community members, an endeavor he proudly supports for the second straight year.
National Night Out has been a staple community-building campaign since its inception in 1984, striving to create stronger partnerships and foster camaraderie between law enforcement agencies and the neighborhoods under their watch. Through these efforts, communities across the nation aspire to become safer and more unified.
From block parties to parades, the events of National Night Out aim to provide an opportunity for residents to stand together against crime, to kindly engage with one another, and to build safer neighborhoods. Millions participate across thousands of communities, sending a clear message of unity and vigilance against crime.
