The Florida Department of Law Enforcement has initiated an urgent search for Cameron Dixon, a 5-year-old boy reported missing from Fort Lauderdale. According to WSVN, Cameron was last seen in the vicinity of the 100 block of Northeast 11th Avenue, wearing a blue shirt paired with black shorts and boasting a physical description of black hair, brown eyes, at a stature of three feet and nine inches.
Amid rising concerns, the FDLE has disseminated a Missing Child Alert across the state, urging the public to remain vigilant for the young child's whereabouts, and has released details of a vehicle potentially involved—a 2019 gray Chevrolet Cruze, bearing the Florida license plate AJ51GI—the car may be recognized by a large dent on its rear passenger door that marks it, WTSP reported officials stating that the situation is time-sensitive and requires public attentiveness.
There is a speculation that Cameron might be in the company of 37-year-old Leon Dixon, details about whom have been scarce but crucial to the investigation as authorities piece together their movements. Officials have not disclosed the nature of Leon's relationship to Cameron but emphasize that any information could be pivotal in ensuring the child's safe return to his family.
Despite the instinct to intervene personally, law enforcement pleads the public to avoid direct engagement if they encounter the individuals or vehicle in question. Report sightings instantly to 911 or the Broward County Sheriff's Office at 954-764-4357, ensuring that the professionals take it from the situation to ensure the child's safety and to manage the situation with the necessary expertise, according to the statements obtained by WTSP.
