Residents and businesses along Grand Avenue in West Duluth have had their water service restored after crews rapidly addressed an early morning water main break near Central Avenue. Repair efforts were quickly enacted by the city's utility operations teams, who managed not only to mend the compromised water infrastructure but are also in the process of filling in the excavated site and clearing away the asphalt debris leftover from the rupture.
The thoroughfare is still under a temporary closure and is expected to remain so until city maintenance teams can put in a temporary road patch, slated to be finished by the end of August 30. Until then, traffic around the disruption will be redirected, according to a report from the City of Duluth's official release. Local drivers should expect some detours and plan their routes accordingly as the makeshift road restoration is underway.
