A 25-year-old woman is undergoing treatment after a shooting incident in the Over-the-Rhine neighborhood of Cincinnati. According to Local12, the incident occurred around 9:20 p.m. on Tuesday on Vine Street near Green. The victim, found with a gunshot wound to her face, was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.
Despite the ShotSpotter Gunshot Location System alerting officers to the shooting, there has yet to be an arrest made, nor is there any suspect information. The woman, shot in the face, was discovered near the intersection of Vine and Liberty streets, as reported by FOX19.
Further details surrounding the shooting are initially scarce, with authorities yet to offer any description of potential suspects. The Cincinnati Police Department is continuing its investigation, asking anyone with information to come forward. WLWT reports that the victim has been hospitalized at UC Hospital, having sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The circumstances leading up to the event are still under scrutiny. Driving the woman to the hospital in a private vehicle, police clarified that she was transported between 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, as initially indicated by FOX19. The ShotSpotter system, designed to detect and locate gunshots, alerted the officers about the incident. Its efficacy, however, remains a topic of discussion amidst the reality of violence that has, once again, marked the streets of Over-the-Rhine with tragedy.
