Scenes of distress unfolded on Sunday evening at The Banks district as Yard House, a beloved staple for "classic American" fare, was engulfed in a blaze that demanded the establishment shutter its doors for the unforeseeable future. According to WLWT, the fire, which started in the kitchen, aggressively spread through the vents, halting the clatter of dishes and convivial discourse customary to the venue's ambient nights.
The Cincinnati Fire Department sprang to extinguish the conflagration, safely evacuating all guests and staff members. Despite the swift response, damage estimates have soared upwards to $150,000. In a media statement obtained by WCPO, the CFD noted that the cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
Forty intrepid firefighters were dispatched to the scene, where they quickly witnessed "heavy smoke" and flames protruding from The Yard House roof, as heralded by the approaching plumes visible to them en route. It took roughly 10 minutes for the responders to thoroughly subdue the flames using an "aggressive interior attack", as mentioned in the CFD statement as per WCPO.
While the immediate aftermath saw the cessation of operations at Yard House, there have been no reported injuries, a fortunate reality amidst the stark potentiality for havoc. Representatives from Yard House, which touts itself as a purveyor of fine brews and food, have not yet commented on the incident. The location at The Banks, noted by Local 12, stands as the chain's solitary bastion in the Greater Cincinnati area, indicating that its temporary closure might reverberate with deeper resonance among its local patrons.
