A 15-year-old boy was shot and critically injured in Gage Park, on Chicago's South Side, as reported by Chicago Sun-Times. The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon near an elementary school at approximately 5:14 p.m., according to the ABC7 Chicago report.

Police detailed that the teenage victim was standing on the 5700 block of South Wolcott Avenue when a vehicle approached him, an individual then emerged and unleashed a barrage of gunfire targeting the youth who consequently suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his legs. After the assault, the suspects absconded east on West 57th Street in their vehicle. The police shared this information but no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.

The wounded adolescent was rushed to Comer Children's Hospital, where he was deemed to be in critical condition. 

In their ongoing investigation, Chicago police are yet to apprehend the perpetrators of the shooting while details regarding the motive or any possible connections to the teen are still undisclosed neighborhood residents, security footage and other potential witnesses are being sought to shed light on the assailants' identities and sequence of events leading up to this unchecked act of violence.
