A 17-year-old male juvenile has been charged with multiple felonies following a vehicular hijacking incident in Chicago, authorities reported. The charges include a single felony count each of aggravated vehicular hijacking with a firearm, aggravated possession of a stolen motor vehicle, aggravated fleeing from police, aggravated fleeing resulting in property damage over $300, and aggravated fleeing involving two or more conveyance devices, according to the Chicago Police Department.
The arrest was made by the Citywide Robbery Task Force on the night of September 5, at around 11 p.m., after officers identified the juvenile as the suspect in a carjacking that occurred approximately 35 minutes earlier. The incident took place in the 4600 block of N. Broadway where the suspect reportedly took a vehicle at gunpoint from a 44-year-old man. Following the theft, the stolen vehicle was located in traffic and struck a curb, prompting the suspect to attempt to flee on foot, before being apprehended by the police.
The police did not release further details about the circumstances leading to the juvenile's arrest or the condition of the victim.
