
A 29-year-old man was fatally shot in the Washington Park neighborhood of Chicago's South Side late Saturday morning, according to Chicago police. The shooting occurred in the 5700 block of South Prairie Avenue shortly after 11 a.m. when reportedly, two individuals alighted from a black SUV and started shooting in his direction. The Chicago Tribune states that the man sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the body.
Taken to UChicago Medicine, it was their emergency department who pronounced the man dead upon arrival. With no arrests made, the investigation into the fatal shooting is ongoing. Late at night, the detectives have yet to identify the assailants.
The authorities have not yet released the identity of the man killed. The Chicago Sun-Times reported that after the victim was struck by the gunfire, he was urgently conveyed to the University of Chicago Medical Center. No one has been taken into custody in relation to the incident, and no further details have been made public by the investigative team.
