A fatal traffic collision claiming the life of a 29-year-old female cyclist occurred in Antioch. The incident occurred near the Lone Tree Way and Sagebrush Drive intersection on July 27 at approximately 12:10 am, per the Antioch Police Department.
The Antioch Police Department's traffic unit has filed charges against the suspect, 38-year-old Alexander Mayorga. The charges include vehicular manslaughter, DUI causing death, and hit-and-run causing death. According to the Hoodline report, the driver is suspected of driving under the influence and was on the scene when police arrived. Emergency responders, although present quickly, were unable to save the woman, who was declared dead at the location of the accident.
The ongoing investigation by the Antioch Police Department's Traffic Investigators into the circumstances of the collision has now reached a pivotal turn, with the case being sent to the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office.
