
In a recent report, a 62-year-old individual was apprehended and charged over an armed robbery and kidnapping incident in Chicago. The suspect, identified as Michael Perkins, from the 4200 block of W. Harrison St., faced multiple felony charges. According to the Chicago Police Department, Perkins was charged with one count of armed robbery using a dangerous weapon, one count of aggravated kidnapping while armed, and one count of aggravated kidnapping with concealed identity.
Perkins' detention hearing is scheduled to take place at a courthouse located at 2600 S. California on September 10, 2024. Authorities state that the charges stem from an event that is alleged to have occurred on July 27, 2024. During the early morning hours, Perkins is accused of having forcibly taken possessions from a 42-year-old woman at gunpoint near the 2200 block of W. Thomas St. He subsequently compelled her to travel to the 2900 block of W. Shakespeare Ave, as per the police report. The arrest on the following day came after Perkins was recognized as the alleged assailant in this case.
Perkins was taken into custody without incident in the vicinity of the 3100 block of W. Harrison St. This arrest was the result of collaboration among different police districts, underscoring the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to address such heinous crimes within the city.
Details at the moment remain limited regarding the circumstances that led up to the crime, or the condition of the victim post the event.
