The City of Bellevue is currently seeking public input on its planned allocation of Community Development Block Grant funds for the years 2025 to 2029. The draft of the 2025-2029 Consolidated Plan, which details the city's intended use of the federal block grants, is open for review by community members starting today with comments being accepted until October 17th, according to the City of Bellevue.
Interested parties can access the draft documents online at Block Grants or by requesting a physical copy via email from the address [email protected]. According to the City of Bellevue, the Bellevue Human Services Commission will also host a public hearing where on October 21, from 6-8 p.m., community feedback on the draft plan will be solicited. Written comments can be sent directly to the commission at [email protected].
The hearing will be held at City Hall and simultaneously streamed online, providing a platform for residents to voice their concerns and suggestions on how the funds should be utilized effectively. Details of how to access the online hearing will be announced on October 17th when the agenda for the city meetings is made available, as stated in the online notice.
These block grants, overseen by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, are designed to support viable urban communities, largely focusing on affordable housing and economic growth primarily for residents on low and moderate incomes. As stated on the Bellevue website, the grants have a range of uses including home rehabilitation, business assistance for smaller enterprises, public facilities and improvements, and various public services.
