The diligence of frontline officers, paired with their canine companions and technologies, made it possible to discover 22 packages containing 54.67 pounds of cocaine. Port Director Andres Guerra lauded the team's effort, declaring, "Our frontline officers at the Falcon Dam crossing maintained strict vigilance, applied their training, experience, canines, technology and the end result was a significant seizure of cocaine." In a statement obtained by CBP, Guerra emphasized, "Seizures like these exemplify CBP’s commitment to advancing our border security mission while facilitating lawful trade and travel."
The key seizure unfolded on September 16 at the Falcon Dam International Bridge. A CBP officer flagged a 2024 MG5 for a keenly thorough secondary inspection. The rigors of this further analysis made use of non-intrusive inspection systems and dog squads trained to detect such contraband. These efforts unearthed the contraband secreted skillfully within the vehicle's confines.
