Chicago law enforcement has made a decisive move in a series of armed robberies with the arrest and subsequent charging of Darrion Bennett, as reported by the Chicago Police Department. Bennett, who resides on the 5300 block of S. Aberdeen St., stands accused of engaging in multiple armed robberies and one attempted armed robbery. The charges brought against him include four felony counts of armed robbery with a firearm and one felony count of an attempted armed robbery.
Authorities captured Bennett on the evening of August 31 at approximately 6:01 PM near the 5400 block of S. Halsted St. The incidents leading to his arrest took place earlier in the month when he allegedly entered a business on August 16, on the 5300 block of S. Halsted St., a location within the jurisdiction of the 9th District. There, he reportedly committed the armed robberies detailed in the charges. A detention hearing for Bennett has been scheduled to be held at the 2600 S. California location on September 2, 2024.
The arrest reportedly resulted from a successful identification process implicating Bennett as the perpetrator. In the narrative provided by the Chicago PD, it is mentioned that "The offender was placed into custody and charged accordingly." However, as per the Chicago Police Department's statement, no additional information regarding the circumstances of the arrest or the investigation that led to identifying Bennett has been made available at this time.
