A 34-year-old from the 6000 block of N. Sheridan in Chicago, named Joachim Nwachukwu, is facing a total of twelve felony counts after his arrest by the Robbery Task Force. Charged with six counts of robbery and an additional six counts of burglary, Nwachukwu was apprehended on September 24, 2024, and is implicated in a series of thefts targeting retail businesses across the city.
According to the Chicago Police Department, the incidents occurred between February and July of this year. Specific locations included the 200 block of W. Adams, the 100 block of W. Madison, the 100 block of S. Clinton, and the 4600 block of N. Western. These areas all fall within the 1st and 19th Police Districts of Chicago. During these incidents, Nwachukwu allegedly burglarized or robbed various establishments.
A detention hearing for Nwachukwu took place on yesterday, September 25, at the courthouse located at 2600 S. California. At this time, the results of the hearing have not been disclosed to the public. The Chicago Police Department has not released further details surrounding the case or a potential motive behind the crimes.
