The city of Chicago was rocked by a series of shootings over the weekend that left four people dead and a dozen others injured, marking another weekend of gun violence for the city. According to WTTW News, 16 people were shot in 13 separate incidents from Friday evening through the end of Sunday.

In Avalon Park, a 21-year-old woman was tragically shot in the head while in a vehicle on the 1600 block of East 87th Street on Saturday around 5:20 p.m., she and a 21-year-old man were attacked by an unknown assailant, both were taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center where the woman succumbed to her injuries and the man maintains in critical condition. Chicago police also reported two fatalities early Sunday morning from separate incidents in West Town and West Pullman. In West Town, an unidentified man, believed to be in his 20s or 30s, was found with a gunshot wound to his head at around 12:46 a.m., on the 700 block of North Halsted Street and was declared dead at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, this was highlighted by Chicago Sun-Times.

Additionally, West Pullman's neighborhood became a crime scene when a 38-year-old man was discovered on the ground, also with a fatal head wound, shortly before 1 a.m. in the 11500 block of South LaSalle Street. As violence continued into Sunday afternoon, two men were shot, one fatally, in the West Garfield Park neighborhood at approximately 1:30 p.m. in the 4600 block of West Monroe Street, with the shooter fleeing on foot, leaving behind a 25-year-old man dead at the scene and a 34-year-old man critically injured at Mount Sinai Hospital.

All of these homicides remain under investigation, with authorities calling for any information from the public that might lead to arrests. At this time, no suspects have been apprehended in connection with any of these shooting.
