The Mississippi police landscape was shaken as District Attorney Matthew Barton announced the indictment of Chief Terry Tyler of the Drew Police Department. Charged with aggravated assault, Tyler's indictment is connected to an incident in Southaven last year, where a confrontation at a local restaurant escalated into a shootout, as reported by Action News 5.

The event, which occurred at Red Hook Cajun Seafood on Airways Boulevard, resulted in one person being injured and another detained, said District Attorney Barton. The charges were filed following an investigation by the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, which dug through witness statements, forensic evidence, and police reports to uncover the truth of that October night, FOX13 Memphis detailed.

"This indictment demonstrates our commitment to holding everyone accountable under the law, regardless of their position. No one is above the law, and the integrity of our legal system demands that we address misconduct wherever it is found", Barton elucidated in his commitment to impartial justice, an assurance given to the public by both WREG and Action News 5.
