According to NBC6, residents reported that the power outage began around 3 a.m. and persisted for hours after a car collided with a power pole in the vicinity of SW 94th Street and 87th Avenue. Cellphone footage captured the aftermath, showing fires near the damaged car and power lines sparking in the trees.
A detailed account by WSVN identified the vehicle as a Tesla sedan, the impact of which on a power pole apparently triggered the fire that burned surrounding brush and trees. Local resident Adrian Gonzalez described the chaos, "We just heard a screech and a crash, came out, and then this fire started happening. It’s a little concerning, having seen all the flames."
Despite the event, there were no injuries reported. The fire brigade was able to extinguish the flames, although the incident left many without electricity for a period. The vehicle in question, a Tesla, was significantly damaged and was later removed from the scene. The driver was not found at the time, prompting a police investigation into their whereabouts.
