The Bayview neighborhood of San Francisco has welcomed the family-owned Mexican grocery chain Mi Rancho to its community. According to Mayor London N. Breed, as per the City and County of San Francisco, the new Mi Rancho supermarket located at 5900 Third Street is the first in San Francisco and represents a significant initiative in tackling food insecurity.

Operating daily from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., this establishment promises a mix of fresh, affordable groceries and meal solutions at competitive prices. Mayor Breed expressed her excitement, noting, as cited by the City and County of San Francisco, "The opening of Mi Rancho is a crucial step towards addressing food insecurity in the Bayview. I am even more excited that our seniors and residents will have a full-access grocery store within walking distance, where they can shop for fresh produce and affordable meal options." This outlet is the second sizeable grocery store to open in the neighborhood following Lucky grocery store's debut.

The store's product offerings emphasize connections with local and seasonal offerings, including a South San Francisco Produce Market selection. As outlined on Mi Rancho's website, the Lopez Family takes pride in serving the community, providing "jobs to sustain families" and ensuring that customer service remains a priority. "We also look for the best products at the best price, just like you do for your family, after all, that’s how we see our customers", the site echoes the company's philosophy.

Furthermore, Sarah Dennis Phillips, Executive Director of the Office of Economic and Workforce Development, highlighted the impact of the store on local food choices and job opportunities. She said, as per the City and County of San Francisco, "Mi Rancho Supermarket is a wonderful new addition to this community that will expand local food options, improve health outcomes, and provide job opportunities for residents."

Commemorating the grand opening, Mi Rancho Supermarket announced via Facebook a festive giveaway of free tacos between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. The event aimed to attract patrons and celebrate the expansion of the Mi Rancho "familia". The supermarket, other than groceries, offers a butcher counter, a Mexican bakery, a dairy section, and ready-to-go hot foods essential for the convenience of modern shoppers.
