Tragedy struck near the Cliff House in San Francisco yesterday when two vehicles, for reasons currently unknown, left the road, crashed through a fence along Point Lobos Avenue, and plummeted onto the cliffs below. The San Francisco Fire Department was on the scene of the accident, which claimed the life of one individual and left another with minor injuries. SFPD and US Park Police have launched an investigation, as reported by the San Francisco Fire Department.

The distress call was made at approximately 4:40 p.m., according to the San Francisco Fire Department. Responders quickly arrived at the site where the two cars had met a dramatic fate past the fractured boundaries of safety's edge and onto the rugged terrain below. NBC Bay Area provided aerial footage capturing the rescue of a dog belonging to one of the vehicle's occupants.

As NBC Bay Area detailed, local surfer Rob Belli was in the vicinity with a friend and witnessed the vehicles take flight. "Me and my buddy were out there and we heard this noise and we looked up. I thought the cliff was collapsing. But it wasn't, it was two cars flying in the air, about 50 feet in the air for one of them,” he said.
