A tragic event took place last Friday on the Palmetto Expressway in Miami Gardens when a driver lost control of their vehicle and crashed into a tree. Official reports from NBC Miami indicate the crash occurred around 11:40 a.m. eastbound near 17th Avenue, with aerial visuals capturing the severely damaged car at the scene.
The accident had serious consequences, causing all eastbound and westbound traffic lanes to halt temporarily. Although the westbound lanes were later reopened, the flow of vehicles was disrupted. The Florida Highway Patrol has not yet released the name of the deceased, and details about the cause of the crash or the condition of others involved remain unclear.
Further information provided by Local 10 News reveals that the ill-fated driver was apparently attempting to dodge debris on the highway when the vehicle lost control before striking the tree. This incident resulted in the death of a male passenger in the left rear seat, while three other victims sustained serious injuries and were transported to HCA Florida Aventura Hospital for care.
A section of the expressway was closed starting from the Northwest 17th Avenue exit as Florida Highway Patrol troopers responded to the emergency. Eastbound lanes were shut down for investigation, with no clear timeline for when normal traffic will resume. Sky 10 helicopter footage showed the wrecked Honda Accord and emergency personnel on the scene, with a yellow tarp covering the deceased individual.
