A tragic incident unfolded in Deerfield Beach when a man was fatally injured by industrial equipment at a local business. Authorities reported that the accident occurred Thursday afternoon at a warehouse located at 1020 Northwest Sixth Street. According to WSVN, a piece of industrial equipment fell on the man, trapping him until co-workers intervened with a forklift to liberate him. The Broward Sheriff’s Fire Rescue subsequently rushed the man, who has not been identified but is believed to be in his 30s or 40s, to Broward Health North in critical condition.
Despite rapid medical attention, the Broward Sheriff's Office (BSO) confirmed the individual succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. While BSO homicide detectives have initiated an investigation into the events leading to his death, they currently do not suspect foul play. Near the scene of the accident, Sky 10 captured footage, as relayed by Local 10, showing law enforcement surrounded by crime scene tape, alongside a loading dock associated with SHL Group. Shown was a pallet truck and a vending machine that appeared to have fallen and was on its side.
Battalion Chief Michael Kane, of the Broward Sheriff’s Fire Rescue, said that the man was initially transported to North Broward Hospital as a trauma alert, intent on countering the severe injuries inflicted. The warehouse where the accident took place engages in the design, development, and manufacture of drug delivery devices, including autoinjectors and pen injectors, and is part of SHL Group, a Swiss company noted for its specialized products, as outlined on its website.
