A French Lick man has been arrested on charges relating to child sexual abuse materials, a term updated from child pornography, following an investigation sparked by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). Indiana State Police took Jeremy David Cox into custody without incident at a location separate from his home after multiple tips from NCMEC were reported to authorities. This arrest was a result of an investigation that commenced in May of this year.
According to a news release from WISHTV, officers executed a search warrant at Cox's residence on Wednesday before tracking him down to another location. Cox is currently being held at the Orange County Jail and is preliminarily charged with possession and/or distribution of child pornography, which is a level 5 felony.
The investigation and subsequent arrest involved the efforts of not just the Indiana State Police but also the local sheriff's office and police department. As detailed in Dubois County Free Press, members from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office and the French Lick Police Department were key in assisting the ISP task force.
Further charges against Cox are anticipated as the investigation unfolds. As noted by WWBL, the Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, which handles cases where individuals use the internet to exploit or engage children sexually, is urging the public to report any such crimes to NCMEC.
