In a bizarre and alarming incident in Hialeah, 26-year-old Roberlandys Fernández Peña was arrested for allegedly storming into a woman's motel room and violently attacking her while proclaiming himself to be "Satan." According to CiberCuba, the victim had left her room briefly to tackle an issue with her lock before encountering Peña naked inside upon her return.
Peña, claiming to be her husband and wearing her underwear, allegedly grabbed the woman by the hair, threw her onto the bed, and began to strangle her while repeatedly saying that she had to die and acknowledging himself as Satan. The victim managed to alert a neighbor with her screams, resulting in the police's prompt arrival and Peña's subsequent arrest, as detailed in the NBC Miami report.
Traumatized by the incident, the woman expressed to the press, “I am very strong, but this has been very hard for me. Every time I close my eyes, I see that man's face and remember what he did to me," as she recounted the harrowing experience. After the arrest, Peña's mother reportedly pleaded with the victim, asking her not to press charges. Despite being sympathetic, the victim insisted on the need for justice, considering the life-threatening nature of the attack, as per the CiberCuba.
At his court appearance, Judge Mindy S. Glazer emphasized the severity of the charges against Peña, including robbery with assault and physical aggression, crimes that may carry a life sentence if he is convicted.
