A recent incident at the Groesbeck Public Library in Colerain Township led to a man's arrest on charges of public indecency. Cannabissativa Smith, 26, has been accused of a distressing act within the walls of an establishment typically filled with the pursuit of knowledge and tranquility. According to Local12, Smith engaged in masturbation in front of two girls in the children's section of the library in July.
Taking place in a section frequented by young minds, Smith left the scene before library staff or the girls' mother could intercept him. Members of the library staff were, however, familiar with him from previous incidents, having been subjected to his behavior previously, as they pointed out. The exact nature of these prior incidents wasn't disclosed.
FOX19 reports that court affidavits reveal Smith is now facing one count of public indecency. The legal documents give an account that Smith "exposed his private parts to two juveniles while engaged in masturbation in the children’s section of the library."
Though quick to leave before a confrontation could unfold, the mother of the victims or the staff members who might have before met him, the authorities were successful in tracing and arresting Smith. The Hamilton County Municipal Court expects his presence for a 9 a.m. arraignment today, details that court documents shared. The community now awaits the judicial process, many no doubt hoping for a resolution that restores a sense of safety and decency to the beloved local library.
