In the early hours of the morning, Minneapolis Police were called to a scene of violence near Lake St and 13 Av S, where they found an adult man with a gunshot wound. Despite the efforts of the officers and emergency medical teams, the man was pronounced dead at the location, confirmation of mortal finality on the cold sidewalk.
The initial call came in at approximately 3:07 a.m., according to a bulletin from the Minneapolis Police. The bulletin, which describes the interaction with an uncooperative and hostile crowd also indicates the presence of a group in the vicinity before the fatal shots rang out. Officers, whose work is to secure and hold the peace, found themselves in a tumultuous struggle to clear the way for first responders.
As the crime scene tape cordoned off the night's grim tableau, MPD Forensic Scientists responded to process the scene, combing through the detritus of the night in search of truths untold. Investigators have since been attempting to piece together the sequence of events that spiraled into the shooting.
The identification of the victim and the exact nature of his demise are to be released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner.
