
Tragedy struck Chicago's South Side on Saturday morning, as an unidentified man was shot and killed while sitting in a vehicle. The incident, which took place in the South Chicago neighborhood, unfolded just after 8:30 a.m. on the 2900 block of East 89th Street, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Reports indicate that the victim was in a stationary car when an assailant approached on foot to then fire shots towards the vehicle. The man sustained a chest wound in the shooting and was promptly taken to UChicago Medicine, where he was pronounced dead. The age of the victim was not immediately known, ABC7 Chicago reported.
As of this report, there were no suspects in custody in connection with the deadly shooting. The Chicago Police Department has not released details about potential motives or the identity of the shooter. Area detectives have been tasked with the investigation, seeking to uncover the circumstances that led to this violent act in broad daylight.
