A high school senior at Manassas High School narrowly escaped an attempted kidnapping yesterday afternoon, as detailed by reports from the Memphis Police Department and multiple local news outlets. The incident unfolded around 1:20 p.m. when a 12th-grade student, having left school premises for a work-based learning program, was targeted by two individuals in a white Nissan sedan. Action News 5 reported that the suspects began to follow the student's car on Chelsea Avenue just minutes after leaving campus.
The student, facing a rapidly escalating situation, managed to quickly turn around and drive back to the school for safety, but the assailants followed closely. Upon arrival at Manassas, the driver and his passenger exited their vehicle; the driver, who was identified as the victim’s ex-boyfriend and a former Craigmont High student, attempted to follow the victim as she attempted to walk into the building; he then physically picked her up off the ground, as recounted in a statement obtained by Citizen App. The suspects put her in their car but she was able to escape before they managed to drive off.

Cooper further stated the victim was fortunately unharmed during the incident. Her father has since pressed charges, sparking an ongoing investigation by local authorities.
The Memphis Police are currently working to resolve the case. No additional details regarding the suspects’ whereabouts or identity have been released beyond the initial descriptions and involvements.
