A motorcycle accident in McHenry County has left a 60-year-old Marengo man in critical condition, following a serious crash that involved no other vehicles. The incident, which took place early Sunday morning on the 14700 block of Marengo Road, has prompted an investigation by local authorities, according to the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.
The man was discovered in a ditch, with his 1993 Harley Davidson Cruiser partially on top of him, after the vehicle had exited the roadway and traveled in the ditch for a considerable distance. Despite the time of the crash, at 12:29 a.m., deputies from the Sheriff’s Office, along with the Huntley Fire Department, were quick to respond to the emergency. The victim was immediately taken to Northwestern Medicine in Huntley and was later airlifted to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where his condition remains critical.
Upon preliminary investigation, it was noted that the driver was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. Furthermore, alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash, which adds a layer of complexity to this unfortunate event. More information is expected to be released as the investigation progresses.
