The Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff's detectives raided the American Iron & Metal recycling center in Richmond, accompanied by the simultaneous execution of a search warrant at a San Pablo residence. The authorities seized a vast collective of illicit goods from their investigation into the ongoing thefts targeting vehicle catalytic converters and copper wire. According to the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office, during the raid, detectives discovered an estimated 700 catalytic converters and some 1,100 pounds of copper wire, with the total value surging into several hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Amid the operation, San Pablo PD managed to apprehend two suspects, while another individual found himself under arrest at the recycling center by the Sheriff's Office. With identities not yet disclosed, these suspects are presently undergoing interviews as part of the investigation. The Sheriff's Facebook post reported that the recovered items had been cataloged as evidence.
