According to WREG, officers responded to a shot fired call around 4 a.m. near Mississippi Boulevard and Saxon Avenue resulting in one person being injured and subsequently transported to Regional One Hospital. The identity of the injured person remains undisclosed, and with no suspects in custody, the investigation continues.
Simultaneously, a similar scene unfolded as FOX13 reports, with Memphis Police investigating a shooting in the proximities of Mississippi Blvd. and Saxon Ave, a stone's throw from LeMoyne-Owen College. Details regarding the shooting are still vague, and the status of potential victims are presently unclear as authorities have yet to release further information.
These incidents mark a grim continuation of violence evidenced by two shootings that occurred overnight. Local Memphis reports that the first shooting happened just before 11:40 p.m. at 2866 Faxon Avenue, leaving two victims hospitalized, one being in critical condition. A few hours later, the second incident took place at the intersection of Mississippi Boulevard and Walker Avenue, with that victim also being taken to Regional One in critical condition.
