A man has been pronounced dead following an overnight shooting in the Binghampton area, as confirmed by Memphis Police. The incident occurred near the intersection of Walnut Grove and Holmes Road shortly before 1 a.m. yesterday, according to Local Memphis. The victim, whose identity has not yet been released, was found deceased at the scene.
Residents were taken aback by the violence, in what is described as a typically quiet neighborhood. "Stuff like that don’t happen around here," a local resident stated in an interview with WREG, “It doesn’t. It’s very quiet. Very, very quiet.” The same resident recounted the horrifying moment the shots rang out while she was spending time with her daughter, leading her to protectively dive over her child.
Following the sound of gunshots, a woman was seen attempting to save the man's life. This scene unfolded until paramedics arrived and attempted resuscitation, but ultimately, the family's reactions confirmed the man's demise. "We sat and we prayed. I don’t like to see nothing like that happen to nobody," the neighbor added, as per the account given to WREG.
