Miami residents brace for another sweltering day as the forecast warns of high humidity pushing feels-like temperatures up to a punishing 110 degrees today, with a heat advisory firmly in place; the mercury is set to hover around the 90s but it's the oppressive mugginess that truly bites, according to NBC 6.
Current weather conditions, influenced by coastal breezes, may shift slightly this weekend with winds changing from east to southeast. This could lead to extended periods of rain. However, the primary focus remains on the intense heat, which is expected to be the dominant factor in this equatorial region.
According to a forecast by the National Weather Service, the chance of showers and thunderstorms is set at 20% for today and tonight but will incrementally increase through the weekend and into next week, with a 30 to 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, especially after noons and before 2 a.m. on respective nights.
While the weekend may bring a few showers or storms, the focus remains on the intense heat and predominantly sunny skies. This combination indicates that rain will offer only brief relief from the extreme temperatures. Residents of Miami will need to use all available strategies to stay cool and hydrated as they contend with the ongoing summer heat.
