A tragic series of events unfolded in Miami Gardens over the weekend, culminating in a fatality resulting from what appears to be a road rage incident. According to Miami Gardens Police, the confrontation occurred around 5 p.m. Saturday in the 2200 block of Northwest 175th Street, as reported by NBC Miami.
The victim, now identified as Demoy Peart, was discovered inside his vehicle with a gunshot wound. Despite the prompt arrival of Miami Gardens Police and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units, and the expedient transportation to a local hospital, Peart succumbed to his injuries and, was pronounced dead. The suspect has stayed at the scene and was subsequently taken into custody, though charges are pending as the investigation continues.
A neighbor, Ella Brown, recounted the harrowing ordeal in a statement given to 7News, "One of the cars, the parked car, had the windshield of the driver side shattered," she explained. Brown also shared that her husband had seen a person lying on the street, which has prompted the family to be more vigilant, “And I will be, and I’m asking him to be more aware, more conscious,” she added.
Detectives investigate the motives behind the shooting. Christina Peart, Demoy's sister, has established a GoFundMe page to assist with funeral and memorial expenses. Those wishing to offer support can find more information on the fundraising platform.
