Miami International Airport (MIA) Director and CEO Ralph Cutié has been named the 2024 Best Airport Industry Leader by FXExpress Publications, Inc., the name behind Global Traveler magazine and other travel industry resources. The announcement and festivities took place at The Lotos Club in New York City on September 19, where Cutié was honored alongside five other industry leaders. These awards from FXExpress strive to spotlight "the best and brightest in the travel industry" and celebrate those at the forefront of sectors such as airports, aviation, cruise lines, and more.
At the New York ceremony, MIA also snagged awards for Best Family-Friendly Domestic Airport and Favorite Airport Shopping. Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava was quick to shower praise, saying, "This industry leader award is a well-deserved honor for Director Cutié, who has skillfully led MIA to become the fastest-growing hub airport in the country since the pandemic and is guiding it through an unprecedented $9 billion capital improvement program," in a statement acquired by Miami-Dade County News. The mayor also congratulated the MIA team for their strides in providing excellent services and shopping experiences to travelers.
Nominations for the Industry Leader Awards were put together by the team at FXExpress Publications, Inc., with a survey later distributed among the FXExpress team to determine the final pick for the Industry Leader honor. "This list includes the travel industry's most influential leaders, those making lasting impacts on travel, the world, and its people,” said Francis X. Gallagher, publisher and CEO of FXExpress Publications, Inc., underscoring the influence wielded, according to Miami-Dade County News.
Earlier accolades for MIA included recognition as Best Family-Friendly Domestic Airport by WhereverFamily and Favorite Airport Shopping by Trazee Travel. These titles were determined through reader votes and survey data, collected over time to reflect the opinions of family travelers and a millennial audience. Trazee Travel mandated that only surveys with over 50 percent completion were considered, ensuring that the feedback accurately represented the sentiments of its readers.
