The 45-year-old officer, while performing a traffic stop, was inside his vehicle with his seat belt fastened when the crash happened, the vehicle required extrication using the Jaws of Life further details provided by Michigan State Police emphasize the treacherous nature of such incidents, which occurred less than two weeks after similar crashes involving State Police cars in Wayne County.
