Two teenagers were taken into custody by Mt. Juliet police after a stolen vehicle was detected by the city's license plate reader program, MJ Guardian Shield. The incident, which occurred yesterday, involved a 2020 Nissan Maxima that was reported stolen from Jackson, Tennessee, on Tuesday. According to a report by WSMV, the alert from the LPR quickly led officers to intercept the vehicle on Mt. Juliet Road near Lebanon Road, where the two teens from Hermitage/Nashville, both aged 18, were apprehended.
Following the detection of the stolen car, Mt. Juliet police moved to quickly contact the car's owner. Wilson County Source reported that the vehicle's owner, located in Jackson, was pleased to hear that her car was found. The teens' arrest was part of the Guardian Shield program's ongoing efforts to identify and recover stolen vehicles and to assist in criminal investigations.
MJPD's investment in the MJ Guardian Shield program has yielded multiple successes in surveillance and recovery of lost or stolen property. WKRN also stressed the effectiveness of the program, which not only facilitated the rapid apprehension of the suspects but also aided in the swift notification of the victim.
While the identities of the teens have not been disclosed, full details of the arrest have yet to be disclosed as police continue with their investigation.
