
A tragic incident unfolded in Naperville this weekend when a cyclist was fatally injured after colliding with a vehicle. The Naperville Police Department reported that Isabel Dimas-Jimenez, 54, was involved in a severe traffic accident at the crossroad of W. Ogden Avenue and Royal Saint George Drive on the morning of September 21st. Paramedics rushed Dimas-Jimenez to the hospital subsequent to the crash, but she later died due to her injuries.
According to the official statement, the incident occurred when a light green 2024 Jeep Wrangler, driven by a 44-year-old woman from Wheaton, was to quickly turn left onto Royal Saint George Drive and struck Dimas-Jimenez, who was crossing eastbound in the south side crosswalk on Ogden Avenue. The driver of the Jeep was operating the vehicle on a solid green light at the time of the collision.
Authorities closed the affected stretch of roadway for around four hours as traffic crash investigators and reconstruction specialists from the Traffic Unit scrutinized the scene to piece together the events leading up to the accident. As of now, officials have not issued any citations or filed charges in connection to the crash.
Naperville Police are continuing to probe thoroughly into the specifics of the crash. While the investigation is still underway, the department has not released further information regarding the cause or potential fault.
